Morii (n.) – the desire to capture a fleeting experience

A couple of months ago we attended a Coldplay concert. During the concert, I couldn't help myself and recorded about a million videos and took just as many photos. When Fix you came on, it was magical. I was just about to hit the button to start recording again and then my boyfriend said to me (well something along these lines): You are watching the whole show through your phone, don't forget to enjoy it in real life. And he was so right.
I was too busy capturing the atmosphere, when in reality, I should be there. Feeling it. Enjoying it. It got me thinking - how many times will I actually watch those videos I took? And I knew the answer. I will import them on my computer and forget about them. But I just had to have memories of that special night in hopes of making it last longer.

We live our lives in moments. And moments pass. So we try to capture them, to catch them. To do anything to remember them. And convert them into anything that will last longer. We can travel the world, looking for new memories and adventures and still find ourselves standing behind the camera, looking through the lens. Trying to take the perfect capture. The perfect photo. So we can show it to our friends and family. And still say ''Oh, I guess you had to be there.''

1. Caudalie beauty elixir is my go-to product during the summer months. Besides refreshing you in an instant, it really makes your skin softer.

2. House of cards. I highly recommend watching this series if you are looking for a new one, especially if you are into politics.

3. Black tee with a little bit of lace. I bought this one last year and it has been my favorite ever since. It goes with everything and adds that little bit of glam to my everyday look.

4. Rifle Paper Co. phone case. Durable, pretty to look at, and protective. Do I need to say more?

5. Learning German. Danke fürs lesen.

And here we are. Drifting into the last summer month, when the evening light gets a little bit more orange and the leaves start getting just a little bit more yellow. I can't believe this year is flying by so fast. It seems like yesterday when I was taking photos of blooming trees and now I am already thinking about cardigans and sweaters (despite the current heatwave). I feel like autumn brings out the old soul in me. I start getting excited about making apple pies, black tea and rainy nights. Gosh, sometimes I am 80 sometimes I am 8 and there's no in between.

So far, this year has been like no other. The first thing that pops into my mind is, of course, visiting the US and seeing its natural wonders and paved roads. I think I also grew a lot. I'm still learning not to take some things too personally and discovering things I have to work on. On the other hand, I realized what my strengths are and what makes me me. Overall, the most important thing I learnt is that failure is necessary. It brings you one step closer to fulfilling your dreams, challenges you to create new ones and opens new doors. Don't fear failure, fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today.

In the blink of an eye, summer will collapse into autumn and ice creams will turn into chai lattes. Time is passing and we can't catch it, no matter how hard we try. The only thing we can do is live in the moment and enjoy every second of it.
