US diary // part 2

3. 6. 17

Okay, so let’s proceed with my little US saga, shall we.

The first day of May started perfectly. We woke up in a sunny San Luis Obispo, packed our bags, said goodbye to our lovely Airbnb and headed for breakfast. We found this cute little caffee called Sky Café, where we ordered pancakes, filled ourselves with caffeine, walked around the town and then took off. Our next destination was Salinas, but of course we made some stops along the way.

Hwy 1 is surrounded by beautiful nature and many hidden beaches. It kind of reminded us of Ireland, because of the endless cliffs and yellow flowers everywhere.

We accidentally stumbled upon the Elephant Seal Vista Point that offers epic views of breading elephant seals and which left us speechless.

On our way, we stopped in a cute little town San Simeon, where we stuffed our faces with delicious burgers, walked the long pier and enjoyed in amazing view.

We continued with our way to Salinas, made a little detour and ended up in the perfect marine town Monterey. This is one of the cutest places I have ever seen and it kinda makes you feel you live in a fairytale. It’s all about pastel houses, fairy lights and boats.

After a long day, we finally arrived to Salinas and fell sound asleep. The next day we decided to drive to Big Sur (due to the landslide, a large portion of the road is currently closed, but we still wanted to see how far we can make it and how much of the famous Big Sur coast we can actually visit). Safe to say, nature did not disappoint.

Our final destination for the day was San Francisco, and as we drove along Hwy 1 we found the most glorious little beach, glistening in the golden sunlight. This was my favorite discovery of the trip and I am so glad we found this little secluded treasure.

The next morning we woke up in San Francisco, a kingdom of steep streets. We decided to take advantage of sunny day and made our way to the bike rent shop, where we rented two bikes and biked the Golden Gate Bridge and visited Sausalito – a small town on the other side of the bridge.

As you can see, we had an awesome day exploring parts of San Fran that are maybe a little bit hidden yet still amazing to visit. The next day we visited some of the more popular attractions, such as Pier 39, Coit Tower, Lombart Road, Dolores Park, Golden Gate Park, etc.

All in all, these days were amazing and writing about all the sights we have seen makes me want to go back even more!

Stay tuned for part 3, which is coming very soon ♡

US diary // part 1

30. 5. 17

So if you have been following me on Instagram you might have noticed that me and my boyfriend went on holiday. On THE holiday. We went roadtripping for 16 days through California and visited Nevada and Arizona too. Since there are so many photos to show and so many places to mention, I decided I am going to split our journey in 4 blogposts. So let's dive into the memories, shall we. :)

It all started at 2 am on a Thursday, 27 April, when GoOpti picked us up and drove us to Venice. We boarded our flight to Paris, where we (luckily) managed to catch our connecting flight to LAX. I think I probably don't have to mention that as we were travelling for 17 hours we were quite tired so we only grabbed something to eat and fell into our bed. We woke up pretty early the next day and headed to Hollywood Blv, where we walked the Walk of Fame, and soon called an Uber to Hollywood Hills. He dropped us of at the foot and the climb to the Hollywood Sign began.

In the afternoon we visited Venice beach and Santa Monica Pier, where we enjoyed in the magical sunset. This place was honestly amazing, especially in the golden hour.

Okay, *story time*. When I was in primary school, I was obsessed with watching MTV’s Laguna Beach. And when I say obsessed I mean watching every episode a number of times, wishing I was there. So of course, one of the places I was looking forward most to visiting, was Laguna Beach. And since I have the best boyfriend in the world, he agreed to make my teenage dreams come true. So on a Saturday we drove there, and I was in awe. This city was even more perfect than I imagined.

When we took in all the beauty and tried an acai bowl (that was a must :D), we drove back to LA to visit the Griffith Observatory. Another famous spot that attracts many tourists, righteously so.

On Sunday, 30 April, we left our LA Airbnb and headed to our next destination: San Luis Obispo. We decided to take the scenic route (ALWAYS TAKE THE SCENIC ROUTE :D) and marveled at the wonderful Mulholland Road.

Driving on Hwy 1 (famous American highway that runs along most of the Pacific Coastline) we made many stops and enjoyed in amazing views and glorious cliffs. We also visited Santa Barbara which in a lovely little town, full of mosaics, flowers and colors.

Finally, we arrived in San Luis Obispo and quickly fell sound asleep after a whole day filled with adventures. This is it for the first part, hopefully you guys enjoyed my little diary. Stay tuned for the second part! :)

YAY for spring

5. 4. 17

''In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.''
- Margaret Atwood

Lately, my favorite activity has been running around, taking photos of blooming trees and colorful flowers. Please tell me I am not the only one! I feel like it's high time I embellish my CV with 'professional-blooming-tree photographer'.

Oh, and I have been listening to this song on repeat.

Happy spring, peeps! ♡

3 ways to start your day on a good note

13. 3. 17

Upgrading your morning routine may be life-changing. Or at least day-changing, if you know what I mean. :)  However you start your day, determines the rest of it. At least I think so. I see mornings as the foundation of the day that follows, and that is why I decided to come up with three simple ways to spice up every morning and make waking up well... at least a little bit more exciting.

1. Start your day with a dance party. Get out of bed, play your favorite tune and let your body move and groove! A little solo dance party never killed nobody, right? :)

2. I don't know about you, but I loooove breakfasts. And if I spot a new breakfast recipe I want to try out, my excitement to make it ASAP gets me out of bed faster. Sadly, I don't always have time to do it and my boyfriend can attest to me cooking porridge almost every morning, but hey! Sometimes I add blueberries, other times banana. Let's pretend this counts as diversity! ;D Here are some interesting breakfast recipes to try out: yummy parfaitgreen smoothie bowl, best granola I have ever tried.

3. Make an album with your favorite motivational quotes and read them when you wake up. This way you’ll remind yourself what do you want out of life and feel motivated for the day ahead.

Nature FTW

8. 3. 17

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you Natural Park Goričko

I have never seen a place quite like this one. This park is full of magical surprises, such as Bukovnica Lake, the Energy Spot Park (where you can try to feel the healing energy), a wonderfully quiet forest path, Chapel of St. Vid, a small adrenaline park, and many more. It also seems to be a place of eternal autumn (as you can see from the pictures), and is overall a great place to visit on a sunny weekend. :)
